This is because WordPress will test each site every time someone visits your site and ask “Is this one functioning? Does this one work? Is it working?” and spend its processing power trying to figure out what actions it needs to take which actions it should not perform.
Another reason is to ensure security. Some plugins are old and contain security vulnerabilities, and one reason they’re updated is to close these security holes. If the hackers discover a plugin that has an issue, they’ll be able to use it to gain access to your site.
This means that, not only should you remove your plugins and themes that are no longer active and plugins, but you must also regularly update them on a periodic daily basis (see number 5). Plan a time every week to make sure to update your blog when needed. (Just make sure you don’t change to .0 versions.)
7. Help is always available
WordPress is an open-source platform, with users all over the globe contributing to it and helping make it more effective.
